Story shared: My last memories with an extraordinary Father

Reading all of the stories that people came here to write is wonderful and touching.I Thank you all.My dad meant everything to me i do not think i could ever have had a better man in my life to protect and gude me through my life. He still was guding me up until the end.He will always be with me.I am a very lucky soul to have had him. I have a short story also. It was the end of March 2012 and i was looking forward to seeing Dad and Mom coming to see us in Burbank California where Me[Courtney] my husband Julian and Tracy our 20 month old son lives.I knew this was a rare treat. My Dad didint take many trips like this especially as he got older.They arrived and we had nothing but pure Family fun together Dad was putting forth an extra amount of energy and happiness this trip. We went to the Los Angeles Zoo and Dad must have walked at least 4 miles with us looking at all of the different wild animals.He really enjoyed the Birds as he always has in his own backyard.We Then went to Hollywood and walked all around there. Somewhere he had never been.One thing that stuck me was,wow! Dad is really making a huge effort to enjoy and be active in everying we were doing. I am so grateful and proud we were able to spend 3 days with Him doing things that were peaceful and nice and fun.In the back of my head I just kept thinking I hope this isint the last time.We wrapped up our time together with Dinner at Bobs Big boy.Dad used to take us there as children.Then the last dinner with Dad at Gourmet 88 in Burbank an exelllent Chineese food Restaurant.We sat at a huge round table laughing and just really enjoying eachother.The last night I went to say Gooodbye i got a huge hug in and kissed my wonderful Dad on the face and head and told him just how very much that i love him.I Will miss him beyond any words can express. I will always keep him with me as i live my life in his great example. I love you forever and eternity Dad.Youre proud daughter Courtney Michelle.

I am really saddened to learn of Tracy's passing. Our condolences to Marilyn and the family. I had the privilege of working with Tracy at Parole and Probation. He was the most honest, hard-working and professional person I have ever known. Plus he had a great sense of humor. He will be missed. Rob Calderone

My heart and prayers go out to the Fisk family at their loss of such a wonderful and precious man, husband,father, & friend to many..He always has had a special place in my heart as he was the kindest and caring man I have ever met..He taught me so much when I volunteered at P&P for years when I was a Deputy at the Carson City Sheriff's Dept..Tracy, you not be forgotten but will live on in many of our hearts forever..Hugs, April

Tracy lived down the road from my family on Floating Feather Road. Back then there was no road names just route#1 Eagle, Idaho. There were not even zip codes then. Went to Jr High and High School then but there was the three young men that could not get enough of each other. Lyle Orton the oldest, then came Tracy and then Pat Porritt. lyles older brother was in the group off and on but Wayne was older and ran with Mark Ross, but believe it or not Tracy was the rock of the three some. His family were wonderful people, hard working but really great people. My family the Marshall,s knew Marlilyns family and were good friends of the Flakes. When I was married to Pat Porritt and found out Tracy was married to a Flake I knew he would be more than fine. Both the Flakes and the Fisks were from good stock and Tracy would have a very loved life. Tracy believe it or not was the shy one of the BIG THREE and settled the other two men down somewhat. My Dad Harold Marshall was their Bishop during their early years and he would come home after an interview and of course could not tells his family anything, but just shake his head. Tracy you were loved by many, say hello to my Dad up there and take Pat,s and my daughter by they hand and let her know she is loved. I know you will be missed but we all loved you. In the fall of 1950, my father moved his family from Oregon to a larger dairy farm in Star, Idaho. I was in the first grade at the time and felt ripped away from all my best friends and cousins in Oregon. Star was a small community and church was way over by Middleton so my area for finding new friends included Star and Middleton. Tracy’s family were living on a small farm not far from the building where we met so our paths crossed almost immediately and we connected. For the next three years, even though we attended different schools, we played in each other’s barnyards and helped with each other’s chores on Sundays, almost on a weekly basis. My father bought a ranch in Montana so we moved away in 1954, and as chance would have it we were gone until around 1958, when we came back to Star to the same dairy we left earlier. During the time we were gone, the church members from Star were changed to attend their meetings in the Eagle branch, so that is where we went to church. During the time we were gone, Charlie Fisk had also moved! Over to Eagle. What a pleasant surprise it was when I went to school and church, and there was my best friend, Tracy Fisk! I was in a class ahead of him in school but that made no difference. For the next three years we learned to drive, we went to Boise to the dances, we got into mischief together, and we dreamed of dating those pretty girls around us but weren’t brave enough or old enough to ask. In 1960, our milk barn burned to the ground and my father took a job in Pendleton, Oregon. I didn’t see Tracy again for a long time. I went on a mission and when I returned I worked for a summer in Boise but the Fisks had disappeared. I went to school and into the military and often wondered what had happened to Tracy. Over the years as I moved from place to place in my search for a lasting career, I attempted to locate him, thinking he might still be in the Boise valley somewhere, but it just never happened. About four years ago, I think it was in 2008 sometime, I got on the computer and googled ‘TRACY FISK’! There were several of them that came up so I just started with the very first one. ‘Tracy Fisk’ in Carson City, Nevada. I called the number and Tracy answered the phone. We talked for almost an hour and then we finished getting caught up using email. During the summer of 2010, I rode my Harley to Reno, met Pat (our other gang member) and we spent the next couple of days in the most enjoyable reunion with our dear best friend Tracy and his gracious wife Marilyn. Oh, what a joyful time we had talking about the old days. How nice it was finding out that our paths were on a somewhat parallel way through life. Tracy was still the missionary, the gospel came into our conversations many times. I could tell he was a devoted husband and father, he was so proud of his family. Since that time, we have had several lengthy communications by email, some during times of sickness or poor health. I have been conniving to find a way to take my wife to Carson City to meet Tracy and Marilyn but now it is too late, we waited too long. I know that we will meet again. I know he is in good hands. I know he is smiling and waiting for his loved ones and working on their behalf. I believe that Tracy was given a little extra time here to finish his mission and bless his family. I worked and practically lived with Tracy for 20 years. I was fortunate to be mentored by Tracy and teach along side him in classes with Parole & Probation and Western Nevada College. His devotion to his profession and those he taught was inspirational and only came second to the love and devotion to his family. He was devout in his beliefs and we spent many hours discussing our faiths, his LDS mine Baptist. We also shared a love for the Cinema. We took advantage of every opportunity to "go to the Movies" and it didn't matter the time of day or the genre. Many times we would take in a matinee before our flight home from a training event and sometimes we would be the only two people in the theater. Tracy even obtained passes into the premier of Shindler's List though we were not on the guest list. Throughout our travels to training sessions around Nevada and the U.S. we would talk about moviea, the job, our families, our past experiences growing up and what made us the men we are today. I have always and will continue to consider Tracy Fisk as a very close friend. I will sorely miss him and am utterly saddened that this gentle man is no longer on this earth, but I am heartened that he is no longer in pain or has to suffer any longer. I am convinced that he is is standing by the concession stand at Heaven's Movie Theater, welcoming all and telling them "enjoy the show" I love you Trace.... Tom

Tracy Fisk was such a handsome guy! He graduated from Meridian High school in Idaho. After that, he was off to Manchester, England for a 2 year mission for the LDS church.

My dad has 10 grandkids, and one more on the way. When he got cancer, every family member moved back to the area to be closer. Courtney named her first child in my dad's honor!
